The Cloud

“The Cloud” is an idea that has been pushed around the IT industry for a couple of years now…and has finally come back to your own office.

Since there is always new technology, faster servers, bigger hard drives, and faster networks, you as a business owner can now have your own easy-to-manage and cost-effective private cloud system in your own office.

This new technology allows you to put the contents of your PC’s, as well as all of your data, onto a single physical server.

Now you are probably asking, what does this mean to me?

Thin Devices – an integral part of Business in a Box

First of all, your desktop computers/PC’s will be replaced by “thin client” devices.  These devices look, act, and feel just like a regular PC.  You will not know the difference except for a few things, including:

  1. Thin client devices are MUCH less expensive.
  2. If they break down, you just unplug it. Plug in a new one and recycle the old one.
  3. You don’t have to repair thin clients.  This in itself saves a considerable amount of money and TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
  4. Your users will not be caught with “nothing to do” if their thin client breaks down.  Repair/replacement will take only minutes.

Centralized Server

Secondly, all your data and programs will reside on one physical server.  This too provides several benefits:

  1. All maintenance is done on the server.
  2. Full server backups also backup the PC/thin client data.
  3. You can control all programs and security from one location.
  4. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) goes way down.  This alone could save you several thousand dollars a year.
  5. Technology is moving to more centralized solutions, so you will be find more software for this type of architecture.
  6. Security can be controlled from one location.
  7. For very little money, thin client access can be extended outside the office to anywhere in the world, depending on your needs.

So the next time you consider upgrading your PC’s and/or your network — or find yourself spending thousands of dollars to upgrade your PC’s and servers — consider “Business In a Box”.
